الشناوي نصّب نفسه بطلا للقلعة الحمراء، وقاد الأهلي لبرونزية مونديال الأندية بالفوز على بالميراس بركلات الجزاء الترجيحية.
وقال الشناوي أثناء العودة إلى القاهرة عبر قناة الأهلي: "استفدنا كثيرا من البطولة وعرفنا أين مستوانا، واجهنا بايرن ميونيخ بطل أوروبا والحمد لله المستوى كان قريبا وليس بعيدا تماما".
وأضاف: "كما واجهنا بطل أمريكا الجنوبية والدحيل بطل قطر، اكتسبنا خبرات وثقة ولعبنا تحت ضغط بطولة كبيرة".
وتابع: "اللاعبون الكبار في الفريق يعملون دائما على الحديث مع اللاعبين الجدد، هناك احترام متبادل والثقة تُكتسَب مع الوقت، نتحدث معهم وننصحهم بكل صدق".
وشدد: "أحترم النقد عموما، عندما تفوز بمباراة يرفعك الناس إلى السماء، ولو خسرت سينزلونك إلى الأرض، حتى لو خسرت أمام بايرن ميونيخ، طبيعي أن الجمهور يريد أن يفرح".
وواصل: "ما علينا فعله كلاعبين هو التركيز على عملنا والنظر إلى الإيجابيات، مباراة بايرن كانت كبيرة وأدينا فيه ما علينا ونفّذنا تعليمات المدير الفني، وفي النهاية خرجنا من البطولة فائزين بميدالية برونزية".
وتحوّل للحديث عن مانويل نوير قائد بايرن ميونيخ: "نوير مثلي الأعلى، الحارس الوحيد الذي أشاهده، كنت سعيدا جدا بمقابلته وأخبرته بذلك".
وأضاف: "التقينا بعد مباراة بالميراس أثناء نزوله لإجراء الإحماء وقام بمباركتي وتمنى لي التوفيق مستقبلا".
وكشف عن أسلوبه في التصدي لركلات الجزاء: "شاهدنا بالميراس ودرسناه وكنا نعرف أن حال التعادل في الوقت الأصلي سنلعب ركلات ترجيح مباشرةً، يعمل معي ميشيل (ياناكوني مدرب الحراس) والمحللين، ونعرف زوايا تسديد بعض اللاعبين، ندرسهم جيدا ونجتهد.
وتابع: "في ركلات الجزاء أنا لست من مدرسة القفز على التوقع تماما، بل أشاهد اللاعبين، ورغم ذلك قد يغيّر اللاعب زاويته المفضلة، ولذلك الأمر صعب عليّ أيضا"،،،

Mohammed Al-Shennawi, the leader of Al-Ahly, revealed.

Al-Shennawi declared himself a champion of the Red Castle, and Al-Ahly led the World Cup bronze clubs by beating Palmeiras with penalties.
"We benefited a lot from the tournament and knew where our level is. We faced Bayern Munich, the European champion, and thank God, the level was close and not quite far," El-Shenawi said, while returning to Cairo on Al-Ahly channel.
He added, "As we faced the South American champion and Al Duhail, the Qatari champion, we gained experience and confidence and played under the pressure of a great tournament."
He continued: "The big players in the team are always working on talking with the new players. There is mutual respect and trust gained with time. We talk with them and advise them in all sincerity."
He stressed: "I respect criticism in general. When you win a match, people raise you to the sky, and if you lose, they will bring you down to the ground, even if you lose against Bayern Munich, it is natural that the fans want to be happy."
And he continued: "What we have to do as players is focus on our work and look at the positives. The Bayern match was great and we did what we had to do and we followed the instructions of the coach, and in the end we got out of the tournament and won a bronze medal."
He switched to talking about Manuel Neuer, the captain of Bayern Munich: "Neuer is my idol, the only goalkeeper that I watch. I was very happy to meet him and told him that."
He added, "We met after a match at Palmeiras while he was going to warm up and he blessed me and wished me success in the future."
He revealed his method of dealing with penalty kicks: "We watched Palmeiras and studied him and we knew that if we were to tie in the original time we would play penalties directly. Michel (Yanakoni, the goalkeeper coach) works with me and the analysts, and we know the pointing angles of some players, we study them well and strive.
He continued: "In penalty kicks, I am not from the school of jumping completely, but I watch the players, and despite that, the player may change his preferred angle, and that is why it is difficult for me too."
And he finished: "Sometimes players come up against me that I have never seen before, in that case I jump after he hits the ball."
